Discussion Board

Enter the Discussion Board forums by selecting the Discussion Board link within the Communications area of the course navigation, or by clicking on a link that may appear within the course. This type of discussion board is also called a threaded discussion, as each new message (or topic) posted is called a thread.

To post to a Forum within this area, click on the Forum name, then select the Thread button at the top left of the screen (as shown here).

Once you have selected the Thread button, complete the screen that displays next:

On this page, add your subject line and complete the Message box with your reply (example shown above). Click Submit at the lower right of the page to post your thread.

Discussion threads list in a collapsed fashion called "List View" (as indicated here). To see an expanded view, click on the "Tree View" in the upper right corner. To collapse or hide threads in the Tree View, click on the minus sign next to the subject line. Clicking the plus sign expands the threads; clicking the minus sign hides them. Each thread subject line is a link to the posted message.
