While the content of the navigation menu will vary according to the requirements of the course, you will almost always find an Announcements link at the top, followed by a Syllabus link and frequently a Staff Information link. At the bottom of the course navigation you will always find a Course Map link.
The course content (such as readings, notes, assignments, discussion questions, and tests and quizzes) may be organized by week (as in the example on the left), by content type (a link or button for lecture notes, a link or button for assignments, a link or button for quizzes, etc), or by subject. Click the appropriate content area link to view that section's content. In addition, you may find a link to the Virtual Office, Virtual Classroom or Collaboration tool, where your instructor may be available for online instruction or chat via an instant messenger-type tool. Most courses will also contain a link to a Tools section, where you can update your account information, check your grade, and pick up returned homework. Many courses will also have a link to a Communication section, where you you will find Announcements, Collaboration (chat), Discussion, Group Pages, Roster, and Send Email tools.
To find out more about these sections, follow the links above or on the far left.
