Homecoming 1956: Disneyland Theme

Homecoming time! Back in 1956, the university celebrated with a parade with a Disneyland theme for the 35 floats, a Homecoming Queen, the U. of D. Band, and the U. of D. ROTC Army and Air Force drill teams, marching down Livernois from W. Outer Drive to the U. of D. stadium entrance at McNichols Road. Afterwards there would be a big bonfire and pep rally, ending with a dance at the Memorial Building (now known as Calihan Hall).

Times change and homecoming activities have changed too. Can't imagine they would allow a big bonfire on campus today. But fun and good times never change. Check out the line-up for this year's homecoming activities.
