I USED TO TRUST PEOPLE. BUT I LEARNED THE HARD WAY.
ONCE THESE COLOREDS CAME IN AND THEY WERE GETTING
MARRIED THAT NIGHT. THE GIRL PICKED OUT HER COAT
BUT THEY WAS SHORT TEN DOLLARS. SO I GAVE THEM THAT
TEN DOLLARS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. THE BANK WAS CLOSED
BUT THEY SAID THEY'D BE BACK ON THE WAY TO THE JUDGE.
THEY NEVER CAME BACK AND I JUST DON'T TRUST 'EM
ANYMORE.

Submitter comment: I HEARD THE SAME STORY FROM ANOTHER LADY WHO SOLD COATS
AT ALBERTS ONLY SHE WAS THE LENDER.

An Irish bride should carry an Irish linen handkerchief in her
wedding bouquet down the aisle. When she tosses her bouquet
(inclusive of her handkerchief) the girl who catches it will have
good luck. The young lady who caught it should then place it in her
wedding bouquet, and the next girl to catch it will have good luck.
The same tradition will be carried on from bride to bride.

HAUNTED HOUSE

IN 1946 A HOUSE ON BENITEAU STREET NEAR HARDING AND CANFIELD IN
DETROIT, WAS SAID TO BE POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL. BECAUSE THE HOUSE
HAD BEEN DAMAGED BY FIRE, THE CITY CONDEMNED THE BUILDING. ONE
DAY TWO CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WENT TO EXAMINE THE HOUSE, WHICH WAS
TO BE DESTROYED THE NEXT WEEK. ON ENTERING THE BUILDING BOTH OF
THE MEN WENT INTO CONVULSIONS, AND WERE HOSPITALIZED FOR SEVERAL
WEEKS. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE HOUSE WAS NOT DESTROYED UNTIL MANY
YEARS LATER.

RIDDLE

Q: A TRAVELER IS WALKING DOWN A ROAD WHEN HE COMES TO A FORK. NOT
KNOWING WHICH ROUTE TO TAKE HE DECIDES TO ASK FOR DIRECTIONS.
THERE IS A MAN AT EACH PATH. ONE ALWAYS TELLS THE TRUTH WHILE THE
OTHER ALWAYS LIES. IF OUR TRAVELER CAN ASK ONLY ONE MAN ONLY ONE
QUESTION WHAT IS HIS QUESTION AND WHO WILL HE ASK?
A: IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO HE ASKS IF HE SAYS - IF I ASK THE OTHER
MAN WHICH WAY I SHOULD GO, WHAT WILL HE TELL ME?

Claddaugh

The claddaugh is an Irish symbol of Love, Friendship and
Loyalty. It looks like two hands holding a heart, with a crown upon
the heart. The hands are friendship, the heart is love, the crown
is loyalty. This symbol is traditionally upon an Irish wedding
ring. This ring was created by a seafarer who had docked in the
town of Claddaugh, Ireland. While in port, he met a young maiden
and fell in love. He was in deep despair at the thought of leaving
her behind, so he went into the hills and designed and forged a
ring with this symbol upon it. He gave it to the maiden as a
symbol of his love, loyalty and friendship. Today this ring is
given upon the engagement of a couple and is worn with the heart
facing away from the woman. Upon their marriage, the ring is
turned around, with the heart facing the woman, indicating her
commitment (or his commitment, as this ring is also given as a
wedding ring to the man) to her husband.

Submitter comment: Claddaugh is pronounced klad-awe.

SHOPPER MYTH

MANY TIMES WHILE AT WORK I NOTICE THAT SHOPPERS WITH FEW ITEMS
WILL ALMOST ALWAYS STAND IN THE EIGHT ITEMS OR LESS LANE.
MANY TIMES THIS LANE IS MUCH LONGER THAN SOME OF THE OTHER
CHECK OUT LANES. I HAVE TO DIRECT THEM TO THE LESSER SOMETIMES
EMPTY LANES.
WHEN I ASK THEM WHY THEY WERE WAITING IN THE LONG LINES THEIR
REPLY IS THAT THEY THOUGHT IT WAS MANDATORY FOR THEM TO STAND
IN THE SPEEDY CHECK OUT LANE.

KING KAHMAI MAI

IN HAWAII, ON THE ISLAND OF PAUI, THERE IS AN UPSIDE DOWN WATERFALL,
AND THIS IS CAUSED BY THE TRADEWINDS, WHICH PUSH THE FALLING WATERS
UPWARD. THE LEGEND BEHIND THIS DEALS WITH KING KAHMAI MAI, WHO WAS
KING OF THE ISLAND MANY YEARS AGO. IT IS SAID THAT HE DROVE ALL THE
PAGANS OFF THE ISLAND, AND THOSE THAT DID NOT LEAVE WERE SACRIFICED
TO THE GODS BY BEING PUSHED OFF THIS WATERFALL. WHEN ALL OF THE
PAGANS HAD LEFT THE ISLAND, THE KING VOWED THAT NO OTHER MAN WOULD
BE ABLE TO DIE BY JUMPING OFF THIS WATERFALL. UP TO THIS DAY THERE
HAS BEEN NOBODY KILLED FROM JUMPING OFF THE WATERFALL BECAUSE OF THE
STRONG TRADEWINDS, AND THEY SAY THAT THE TRADEWIND IS ACTUALLY
KING KAHMAI MAI FULFILLING HIS PROMISE.
