CATCH THE FOX BY THE TAIL

THIS IS AN INITIATION GAME FOR A NEW BOY IN THE
COMMUNITY. IT IS PLAYED WITH A BROOMSTICK, OF WHICH
ONE END HAS BEEN DIPPED IN MANURE. THE GAME IS
PLAYED AT NIGHT AND THE HONOR IS TO BE THE ONE WHO
CARRIES THE BROOMSTICK.
ONE OF THE BOYS PUTS THE STICK BETWEEN HIS LEGS, WITH
THE DIPPED END IN BACK. THEN HE RUNS AND THE REST
HAVE TO GRAB THE STICK. THE WINNER THEN HAS THE
HONOR OF RUNNING WITH THE STICK. THE NEW BOY IS
ALWAYS THE WINNER, BUT AFTER HE CATCHES THE FOX,
HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE HONOR OF CARRYING THE
STICK.

GRAB BAG

THIS IS AN INITIATION GAME FOR A NEW BOY IN THE
COMMUNITY. YOU GET A PAPER BAG AND TELL EVERYONE
TO PUT SOMETHING OF VALUE IN IT. THOSE IN ON THE
GAME PUT IN MONEY, OR A WRIST WATCH. THEN EVERYONE
MUST TURN AROUND AND COVER THEIR EYES. WHEN THIS
IS DONE, THE LEADER OF THE GAME DUMPS OUT THE ARTICLES
AND REPLACES THEM WITH MANURE. HE SETS THE BAG OUT
IN THE OPEN AND TELLS THE REST TO TURN AROUND. HE
COUNTS TO THREE AND EVERYONE RUNS TO THE BAG. THE
WINNER BEING THE FIRST ONE TO GRAB AN ARTICLE FROM
THE BAG. THE NEW BOY, WHO IS ALWAYS THE WINNER, GETS
A RATHER UNPLEASANT SURPRISE.

SNIPE HUNT

THIS IS A GAME PLAYED WITH SOMEONE WHO IS NEW TO
THE AREA. THE GAME STARTS AFTER DARK. THE NEW
PERSON IS GIVEN THE HONOR OF CAPTURING THE SNIPE.
HE IS EQUIPPED WITH A BURLAP BAG AND SOME STICKS.
YOU TAKE HIM INTO THE HILLS AND PICK OUT A GOOD
SPOT TO CATCH SNIPE. YOU TELL HIM TO TAKE OFF HIS
SHOES SO THAT HE WON'T MAKE ANY NOISE AND SCARE THE
SNIPE AWAY, AND THAT YOU WILL PUT THE SHOES BY A
CERTAIN BUSH. THEN YOU TELL HIM THAT SNIPE GO INTO
DARK PLACES AND FOR HIM TO PROP THE BAG OPEN AND HOLD
IT WHILE YOU GO OUT AND DRIVE THE SNIPE TO HIM.
THEN YOU TAKE HIS SHOES AND GO BACK HOME, LEAVING
HIM UP IN THE HILLS.
