In Peru summer begins in January and goes until March.
January is also the beginning of Lent, which begins
the Carnival that lasts the entire summer. During the
Carnival there is throwing of water balloons and sometimes
eggs. It is really quite dangerous to go out walking during
this time, unless you would like to get attacked by water
balloons.

Chimora Week

This is a festival held every year in the last week of March.
The purpose of this festival is to pass down ancient
Chammarrow customs. The festival only started in the 1970's
because that is when the Native Guamanians felt they were
losing sight of their origins. During this week, the people
build and live in huts. They fish, hunt, make salt, do native
dances and live as the Chammarrow people did in the old days.
Each day is a fiesta.

THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD SAY ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH IS,
"RABBIT, RABBIT." SHOULD YOU FORGET, THEN THE LAST THING
BEFORE YOU GO TO BED (IT MUST BE BEFORE MIDNIGHT) YOU SHOULD
SAY IT BACKWARD, "TIBBAR, TIBBAR." YOUR LUCK WOULD NOT BE
AS GOOD BY SAYING IT AT NIGHT, BUT NOT AS BAD AS IF YOU
DIDN'T SAY IT AT ALL.
