THE HOUSE ON ANTIETAM
MY MOTHER HAD A CHAIR AND SHE KEPT HER ALARM CLOCK AND HAIRPINS
ON IT. IT WAS NEXT TO THE BED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IT VIBRATED
SO THAT THE HAIRPINS AND CLOCK WOULD BE THROWN INTO THE AIR.
NOTHING ELSE BUT THE CHAIR WOULD VIBRATE.
ONE DAY THE WOMAN DOWNSTAIRS CAME UP AND SAID THAT IF WE DIDN'T
STOP POUNDING ON THE FOOT OF THE BED AT NIGHT SHE WOULD MOVE.
MY MOTHER AND FATHER HEARD THE NOISE TOO AND COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT.
ONE DAY WE ALL HEARD A BIG COMMOTION IN THE PANTRY AND A LOAF OF
BREAD WAS FLUNG THROUGH THE DINING ROOM AND INTO THE LIVING ROOM.
MY MOTHER WAS SO UPSET ABOUT ALL THESE THINGS THAT SHE SAID: GOD, I
CAN'T STAND THIS ANY LONGER. IF YOU WILL TAKE THESE THINGS FROM ME
I WILL BE A CATHOLIC. THE MANIFESTATIONS STOPPED AND SHE BECAME
A CATHOLIC. NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE. MAYBE SHE IS THE
KIND OF PERSON THE SPIRITS CAN WORK THROUGH.

THE HOUSE ON MENDOTA
EVERY MORNING ABOUT TEN O'CLOCK FOOTSTEPS WOULD COME DOWN THE
STAIRS AND WALK OVER TO THE BUFFET. THEN WE WOULDN'T HEAR THEM
ANY MORE. WE NEVER SAW ANYONE BUT THEY DIDN'T MISS A DAY. IN THIS
SAME HOUSE I COULD STAND AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS AND NO MATTER
HOW HARD I WOULD THROW WHATEVER I THREW WOULD ONLY GO ONE STEP
AND THEN FALL ON THE STEP AS THOUGH SOMEONE WAS CATCHING THE
THINGS.

IN THE TOWN THAT MY PARENTS CAME FROM IN AUSTRIA-HUNGARY, THE
CHURCH WAS HAUNTED AND PEOPLE BELIEVED THAT NO ONE COULD GO IN THERE
AFTER SUNSET. IF YOU WERE PASSING BY IN THE EVENING, YOU COULD
HEAR ALL SORTS OF STRANGE NOISES AND MOANINGS, EVEN SCREAMS.
ONE WOMAN SAID THAT SHE DIDN'T BELIEVE THE STORIES AND THAT SHE
MEANT TO GO IN THERE ONE EVENING AND SEE FOR HERSELF. SHE DID
GO IN THERE AFTER MIDNIGHT AND WAS NEVER SEEN AGAIN. THE NEXT
MORNING ALL OF HER CLOTHING WAS FOUND ON THE FLOOR OF THE CHURCH.

WHY HE SOLD HIS HOUSE.
EVERY DAY ABOUT FIVE IN THE AFTERNOON THE DOORKNOB TURNED ON
THE FRONT DOOR AND MY WIFE AND I COULD HEAR SOMEONE COME IN.
WE WOULD RUSH TO THE SPOT, BUT THERE WOULD NEVER BE ANYONE THERE.
A LITTLE WHILE LATER EVERY DAY WE WOULD HEAR THE WORST COMMOTION
IN THE BASEMENT- LIKE TWO MEN GRUNTING, HITTING, AND BANGING
FURNITURE AROUND DOWN THERE. THEN WE WOULD HEAR THE SOUND OF
SOMEONE DUMPING COAL IN THE DRIVEWAY, BUT THERE WAS NEVER ANY COAL
THERE OR ANY OTHER PLACE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT WE COULD FIND.
A FEW TIMES WE CALLED THE POLICE FROM THE PALMER PARK STATION TO
COME OVER AND HEAR THE NOISE. THEY HEARD IT TOO BUT COULD NOT
FIND OUT WHO WAS MAKING IT. WE MOVED.

DOOR KNOB GHOST
DURING WORLD WAR II, IN DARIEN, GEORGIA, TWO WOMEN LIVED
ALONE WHILE THEIR HUSBANDS WERE IN SERVICE. ONE NIGHT
WHEN ALONE THEY SAW THE DOORKNOB TO THEIR BEDROOM DOOR
TURN. DECIDING TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF THIS, ONE
STOOD BY THE DOOR TO JERK IT OPEN WHILE THE OTHER WAS
GOING TO HIT THE ASSAILANT OVER THE HEAD. WHEN THE
DOORKNOB TURNED AGAIN, THEY OPENED THE DOOR TO FIND
AN EMPTY HALL ON THE OTHER SIDE. IN THIS SAME HOUSE,
THEY FREQUENTLY HEARD BABY CRIES WHEN THERE WAS NO

HAUNTED HOUSE
ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO, A MAN LIVING IN A COTTAGE ON WAMPLER'S LAKE IN
MICHIGAN'S IRISH HILLS AREA BEGAN TO HAVE STRANGE EXPERIENCES. A
PIANO ON THE SECOND FLOOR WOULD BEGIN TO PLAY MYSTERIOUSLY, AND
A COLD WIND WOULD BLOW THROUGH THE HOUSE. HE MOVED OUT, AND THE
COTTAGE GOT A REPUTATION OF BEING HAUNTED. THE MATTER RECEIVED
MUCH PUBLICITY, AND NO ONE WOULD MOVE INTO THE HOUSE.
IT IS SAID THAT EVENTUALLY ONE MAN MUSTERED UP SOME COURAGE,
ENTERED THE COTTAGE, AND SAID, IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, I
COMMAND YOU TO STOP. THE SOUNDS WERE NEVER HEARD AGAIN, BUT THE
COTTAGE IS STILL KNOWN AS THE HAUNTED HOUSE OF WAMPLER'S LAKE.

When I was a little girl our family used to sit
together on Friday nights and tell stories. One of
these stories was told in my family to at least 3 or
4 generations. It was a true story. My great, great
grandparents lived in a house that was moved from a
cemetery to its current spot. Unexplained noises and
voices could be heard coming from the attic and
therefore no one would go up to the attic because it
was strongly believed that there were ghosts up there.
Submitter comment:
Informant still believes that this is a true story.
