MY MOTHER USED TO BE KNOWN ACROSS THE TOWN FOR THE CURE FOR
PNEUMONIA. SHE USED THIS CURE EFFECTIVELY ON SEVERAL
PATIENTS. SHE WOULD FRY ONIONS IN A MIXTURE OF VICKS VAPOR
RUB, PEP OIL, QUININE, AND LARD. SHE WOULD MAKE POULTICES
OUT OF THIS MIXTURE AND PUT THEM ON THE PATIENT'S CHEST.
THESE POULTICES HAD TO BE HOT, THOUGH. SO, SHE WOULD MAKE
A FEW OF THEM AND KEEP THEM IN THE OVEN. SHE WOULD KEEP
PUTTING A NEW POULTICE ON AS SOON AS THE OLD ONES GOT COLD.

Submitter comment: IT IS INTERESTING THAT MRS. TOWNE THOUGHT THAT HER MOTHER
WAS AS GOOD AS ANY NURSE OR DOCTOR. SHE SWEARS THAT HER
MOTHER SUCCESSFULLY CURED PNEUMONIA MANY TIMES.
