THEY PUT A STATUE OF ST. MARY INSIDE THE FOYER IN THE
INFIRMARY BECAUSE THERE HAD BEEN A SERIES OF DEATHS
AT GEORGETOWN. THAT'S WHY THEY PUT THE STATUE THERE,
WITH AN ETERNAL LIGHT ON IT. FOR TWENTY-FIVE YEARS
THERE WERE NO STUDENT DEATHS AT GEORGETOWN. THEN
ONE NIGHT SOME BOYS WERE FOOLING IN THE DORM, A
BOTTLE GOT THROWN OUT THE WINDOW. IT HIT THE LIGHT
AND THE LIGHT WAS EXTINGUISHED. THE SAME NIGHT A
STUDENT DIED IN THE INFIRMARY.

Submitter comment: MR. BALDWIN LEARNED OF THIS DURING HIS UNDERGRADUATE
YEARS AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY. IT WAS TOLD TO HIM
BY A FR. MC DONOUGH IN 1928.
