PRIOR TO THE SECOND VATICAN COUNCIL WAS "PARVA MENSA"
DURING THE DINNER MEAL. THIS PRACTICE ENTAILED KNEELING
AT THE TABLE FOR THE ENTIRE MEAL HOUR AS A SIGN OF PENANCE
FOR ONE'S SINS. THIS PRACTICE WAS ENCOURAGED FOR THE
SAKE OF HUMILITY.
