IN THE SOUTHERN UNITED STATES, THE CREEK INDIANS HOLD AN ANNUAL
4-8 DAY RELIGIOUS CEREMONY IN JULY OR AUGUST WHEN THE CROPS MATURE.
THE MALES DRINK PASSA OR BLACK DRINK FOR PURIFICATION. DANCING
CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CEREMONY. FIRES ARE KINDLED IN THE
INDIVIDUAL HOMES FROM A COMMON FIRE BUILT OUT IN THE SQUARE GROUND.
