ORDINARY FOLKTALE

THERE ONCE WAS A VERY FRIVOLOUS GIRL WHO DESPITE ALL HER
WORLDLINESS ALWAYS WORE A SCAPULAR. THIS SHE DID BECAUSE
OF A PROMISE TO HER MOTHER. ONE EVENING SHE WAS INVITED
TO A LAWN PARTY BUT NO ONE ASKED HER TO DANCE UNTIL A DARK
HANDSOME MAN ASKED HER TO DANCE, IF SHE WOULD TAKE THE
SCAPULAR OFF. RELUCTANTLY, SHE TOOK IT OFF AND HUNG IT ON
THE BRANCH OF A TREE. AS THE DANCE ENDED, SHE FELL TOWARDS
THE TREE, HIT HER HAND AND DIED.
