When my grandmother was alive, she would always refer to the
banshees, which were spirits returning to give warnings to
the living. One afternoon when her mother was very ill back
in Ireland, the only photograph of her mother suddenly fell
off the wall and the glass shattered. It was the very same
day that her mother died and it was believed that the
Banshees used this as a warning to my grandmother.
