A STORY IN JEST
A MAN WAS DRIVING ALONE DOWN A DARK, FORLORN OLD
COUNTRY ROAD LATE ONE NIGHT, WHEN SUDDENLY HE GOT A
FLAT TIRE. HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND EXAMINED IT.
SINCE HE DIDN'T HAVE A SPARE, HE DECIDED THAT HE WOULD
HAVE TO GO ON FOOT TO THE NEAREST TOWN AND GET
ANOTHER ONE. HE STARTED DOWN THE ROAD, WHEN ALL OF A
SUDDEN, HE HEARD A BRANCH SNAP BEHIND HIM. LOOKING
BEHIND HIM, HE SAW A GIGANTIC BEAR JUMP OUT OF THE
WOODS AND COME AFTER HIM. HE RAN AND RAN AS FAST
AS HE COULD TILL HE CAME TO THE TOWN. THE BEAR WAS
ALMOST UP TO HIM. THERE WAS ONLY ONE LIGHT IN THE
TOWN ON--IN THE DRUGSTORE. RUNNING INTO IT WITH THE
BEAR RIGHT BEHIND HIM, HE REACHED INTO HIS POCKET,
TOOK OUT A PENNY, JUMPED ON THE MEASURING SCALES
AND GOT AWEIGH!
