President's Cabinet Award

1971

Citation:

For more than 50 years, you have worked with nature rather than against it as a scientist, mathematician and architect.  As the inventor of the geodesic dome, you have changed the shape of the world's buidings and, justifiably, have been called "one of the century's most creative men."  Your concern for the environment long preceded the interest of others, and where othes have anguished over the dimension of the problems, you stressed the great benefits to accrue from their solutiions.  Your optimistic view of the future has given hope to your fellow passengers on shapceship earth.

It is with great pleasure that I present to you this citation and medal and I hereby declare you recipient of the President's Cabinet Award.
