There will be cases where faculty developing an online course or program will want to include one or more face-to-face sessions. This will need to be made clear to students before enrolling in the program or course. Similarly, faculty teaching an online course may want to engage students in synchronous meetings (all attendees gather in front of their computers at the same time). If participation in these sessions is critical to student performance, students must be made aware of this requirement before enrolling; ideally the day and time for these sessions will also be made clear before the course session, as would be the case with a traditional face-to-face course.
