Journal

A journal generally refers to a periodical that is published on a regular basis issued by a society, university press, government agency or professional association containing news, proceedings, research, transactions or reports of work carried out in a particular area of study. Articles are generally written by professors, researchers or experts in a subject area for other professors, researchers or experts in the same subject area. Journal articles contain thorough bibliographies. Journals are not intended for the general reader. Examples are Journal of Religion and Journal of Biblical Literature. Many journals provide access to their contents online through subscription databases.
