I'VE ALWAYS HEARD THAT IT WAS BAD LUCK TO MOVE INTO A HOUSE THAT
HADN'T ALREADY BEEN FINISHED. IF YOU DID, ONE OF THE COUPLE,
EITHER THE HUSBAND OR WIFE WOULD DIE BEFORE THEY COULD FINISH
THE HOUSE. AUNT MATTIE AND UNCLE LUTHER MOVED INTO THIS HOUSE
BEFORE THIS ROOM WAS COMPLETED; THE CEILING HADN'T BEEN PUT
UP YET. AUNT MATTIE DIED BEFORE IT WAS FINISHED. I DON'T
KNOW WHETHER THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH HER DEATH OR NOT.
UNCLE LUTHER MOVED OUT AND THE BANK FINISHED THE ROOM.

IF A RABBIT CROSSES ROAD IN FRONT OF YOU, YOU HAVE TO BREAK
STRING TO WARD OFF BAD LUCK, IF HE CROSSED TO LEFT. IF HE
CROSSED TO THE RIGHT, YOU TURN YOUR HAT AROUND UNTIL YOU GET
PASSED WHERE HE CROSSED. I'VE SEEN UNCLE BILLY DO THIS LOTS
OF TIMES. ANY KIND OF A STRING WOULD WORK--A THREAD OR ANYTHING.
