BELIEF IN A METHOD OF CURING ASTHMA
STAND AN ASTHMATIC CHILD STRAIGHT AGAINST A TREE AND MARK THE SPOT
AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD WITH A NAIL. AFTER THE CHILD MOVES TO THE
SIDE, DRIVE THE NAIL ALL THE WAY INTO THE TREE. AS SOON AS THE
CHILD'S HEIGHT PASSES THE NAIL, HE WILL BE RID OF HIS ASTHMA.

To cure asthma, take the child outside and place him/her in
front of a tree on your property. Take a nail and drive it
into the tree at the same level as the top of your child's
head. Make sure the nail can slide in and out of the hole
easily, so that the hole will remain a permanent part of the
tree. If it closes up repeat the process, every year until
the asthma goes away.
Submitter comment:
The informant told me that since most children outgrow asthma
as they enter adolescence this is done for only two years
maybe before it is believed that this has cured him/her.

If you have asthma, measure your height to a tree and mark
it. As the tree grows you will grow out of the asthma.
James Callow comment:
Puckett, Ohio, no. 2325: "If a child has asthma, take him
into the woods and find a young tree. Measure the child up to
the tree and mark his height by putting a nail into the tree. As
the tree grows the child will outgrow his asthma."

MY MOTHER WILL TELL YOU TO GO AND GET 3 (OR MAYBE 7) STONES.
EACH ONE SHE RUBS OVER YOUR WARTS. AND IN SO MANY DAYS THEY
WILL GO AWAY. AND THEY ACTUALLY GO AWAY.
WHEN I WAS 7 OR 8 I HAD A SEED WART AND MOTHER COULDN'T
CHARM IT OFF. HER POWER WOULDN'T WORK IN THE IMMEDIATE
FAMILY. SO I WENT TO A LADY WHO TOOK A BLACK THREAD AND
MADE A LOOP WITH IT AND PUT IT AROUND THE WART AND DREW
IT TIGHT. SHE TOLD ME TO LEAVE IT ALONE AND IT WOULD GO
AWAY. AND IT WAS GONE IN A WEEK OR TWO.
