HUNGARIAN EASTER CELEBRATION

TO THE HUNGARIANS OF THE EARLY 1900S, EASTER SUNDAY
WAS A DAY OF PRAYER. EASTER MONDAY, HOWEVER, WAS A
DIFFERENT STORY. IT WAS A DAY FOR MISCHIEF MAKERS.
THE BOYS AND YOUNG MEN WOULD CARRY BOTTLES OF PERFUME
OR WATER AND WOULD WALK FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE, KNOCKING
AT THE DOORS. IF A GIRL WOULD OPEN THE DOOR, SHE
WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY DOUSED WITH PERFUME OR WATER.
