Bio:
Emily C. Pixley joined the University of Detroit in 1948 as an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department. During her career with the University she was promoted to Associate Professor and full Professor. Prior to joining the University she was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics for twelve years at Wayne State University Detroit Michigan.
Over the years, Dr. Pixley taught Calculus I, Calculus II, and Theory of Equations. Records indicate University of Chicago Press published her book Warings Theorem for Biquatrats.
She was a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Beta Kappa, and the American Mathematical Society.
Fr. Malcolm Carron, President, University of Detroit honored Dr. Pixley with Professor Emerita status upon her retirement in 1973.
