Bio:
Dr. Salomeia Schlick studied at the Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel and received bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees there in chemical engineering, polymer chemistry and physical chemistry. Her career at University of Detroit Mercy began in 1983 with her appointment as a professor in the Chemistry Department.
Professor Schlick has been appointed to serve as a Visiting Professor seven times in countries all over the globe – Israel, France, Germany, Japan, and Italy. Her research interests are ESR and ESRI of degradation and stabilization processes in thermally- and chemically-treated and UV-irradiated polymers; along with other areas.
Schlick’s list of awards is long and her list of publications too numerous to mention. Awards include numerous National Science Foundation (NSF) Awards for Exceptional Creativity in Research, the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Medal from the Polish Radiation Research Society, “in appreciation of your achievements in the field of radiation chemistry and photochemistry and your fruitful collaboration with Polish scientists”, and the J. Heyrovsky Honorary Medal of the Czech Academy of Sciences for Merit in Chemical Sciences.
Often Dr. Schlick has collaborated with others in her research including collaboration with F.D. Coms, GM Electrochemical Energy Research Lab; S.J. Hamrock, G.M. Haugen and M.S. Schaberg from 3M Fuel Cell Components Group; G. Jeschke, ETH Zurich; K. Kruczala and Z. Sojka from Jagiellonian University in Kracow, Poland; Anders Lund, Eva Lund and H. Gustaffson from Linköping University in Sweden; Yohei Miwa, Gifu University in Japan; E. Roduner, Stuttgart University in Germany; Jonathan Stevens, UDM; and F.A. Villamena from Ohio State University.
