Charles R. Rutherford is a Partner in the patent law firm of Whittemore, Hulbert & Belknap. He is a former President of the U. of D. Alumni Association and a Member of the Board for five years. A partial list of other activities include: Past President of the St. Francis Club Alumni Foundation; Member of the Titan Club; Past Chairman of Alumni Fund Drive; Past President of the Metropolitan Alumni Club; American Federal & State Bar Association; American & Michigan Patent Law Associations; American & Michigan Societies of Professional Engineers; Reserve Captain, U.S.A.F., etc. Through the years he has always been available for any task the University or Alumni Board requested of him. There is no known Alumnus that is liked or admired more than Mr. Rutherford. He resides with his wife, Patricia, in Detroit.
Mr. Rutherford is a 1932 graduate of the University of Detroit College of Commerce and Finance, a 1953 graduate of the College of Engineering, and a 1957 graduate of the School of Law. He has lectured in evening classes in the U. of D. Engineering College since 1957.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Detroit Bar Association, the American Patent Law Association, and the Michigan (and American) Society of Professional Engineers,
