Bio:
Miss M. Jane Kay is the Administrator for Office of Employment in the Employment and Personnel Research Department of The Detroit Edison Company. She has been employed by Detroit Edison since 1943, but full time since 1948. Miss Kay earned a B.S. degree from the U. of D. College of Commerce & Finance in 1948, a M.A. degree in 1952 from Wayne State University, and an M.B.A. degree in 1962 from the University of Michigan. She was President of the U. of D. Alumnae Association 1963 to 1965 and Second Vice President of the U. of D. Alumni Association those same years.
She has been teaching Personnel and Office Management since 1963 in the U. of D. Evening College of Commerce & Finance. She also teaches part-time at Detroit Edison Company, Wayne State University Applied Management and Technology Center, and lectures at Cornell University and the Management Center of Cambridge.
A few of her professional associations include: Gamma Pi Epsilon (Women Jesuit Honor Society); Guidance Association of Metropolitan Detroit, Chairman 1961-2; International Association of Personnel Women (Chairman of Research 1965-6); Personnel Women of Detroit (President 1960-1); Phi Gamma Nu Sorority (National Professional in Commerce, Nat V.P. 1955-7); Sigma Iota Epsilon (National Honorary Management); Women’s City Club of Detroit (Publicity Chairman 1966-7); Administrative Management Society (Training Chairman 1965-6); Society for Personnel Administration; The American Society for Personnel Administration; Michigan Society for Mental Health; United Foundation; Advisory Committee Downtown Y.W.C.A.; Michigan Employment Security Advisory Council (Appointed by Governor); and on the Advisory Committee for Detroit Public Schools and Wayne State University. She was honored by Detroit Edison with a certificate for her lectures and she is on the Board of Directors of the Detroit Institute of Commerce.
Miss Kay resides in Detroit and has been extremely active in all of the University of Detroit projects through the years. Despite the many demands on her time, Jane Kay has been unquestionably one of the most faithful supporters of the University, and the Alumni Association is indeed very pleased to have this opportunity to honor her.
