Citation:
From the day you became the first black woman graduate of Wayne State University Medical School, to your current role as chief of the Medical Unit at Ford World Headquarters, you have excelled in every aspect of your life. You have benefited countless individuals as a dedicated physician, an active community leader and a member of numerous medical organizations. As both a woman and a doctor, you have opened many doors to others. You were the first woman chief resident in the Department of Medicine at Detroit Receiving Hospital, you were the first woman associate editor of the Detroit Medical News. In 1968 you were named Michigan State Medical Society’s Outstanding Physician of the Year. You have served on the boards of many organizations, including the United Foundation, the Cancer Foundation and the Detroit Institute of Arts, demonstrating that in the community as well as in the field of medicine, your concern is for people. You are a woman of vigor and vision-truly a woman of firsts.
