Teacher, Scholar, Dean, University of Detroit

Citation:
Dedicated, industrious, articulate, persuasive and keen of mind, Bernard Landuyt you have been a teacher, a dean, counselor and, at times, a foster father as well. You are a bridge-builder between academe and business - the wise counselor of students as well as corporate leaders. You are a man who always said what you would do and did it - extremely well. What you did was to teach and to manage. You are a teacher who cannot stop teaching, any more than your students can stop learning. You administered always with great patience and wisdom. Inspiration, vision, and wit were your great management tools. You are a hard working city citizen, a role paralleled only by your excellence as a campus citizen. Teacher, scholar, dean - 35 years of it - serving your beloved students and university. Among the record holders on our campus, few men have met your mark. Reverend President, it is my privilege to present Dr. Bernard F. Landuyt for the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws. Commencement, University of Detroit, April 28, 1973.
