Background Information is taken from University Archive file correspondence. Miss Eleanor Kelly was born in Medina, Michigan, August 28, 1879. She was graduated from the Hudson, Michigan High School and from the Thomas School of Art in Detroit, Michigan, 1902. Miss Kelly's professional record includes Supervisor of Music and private studio in voice, Webster City, Iowa, supervisor of music and private studio, Hudson, Michigan, professor of Public School Music, Hillsdale College and Director of the Conservatory of Music of Hillsdale College. Miss Kelly was appointed a member of a committee of three to draw up a law looking to the standardization of requirements of teachers of music in the public schools. The appointment was made by Thomas Johnson, State Superintendent of Schools. Other members of the committee included Earl Moore, Director, University of Michigan, School of Music and Clyde Foster, Director of Ypsilanti School of Music. Commencement, University of Detroit, June 8, 1926.
