Your exceptional leadership and contribution to University of Detroit Mercy's School of Dentistry is evident to numerous students, patients and faculty members. Through more than 40 years of extensive service to the University, you have distinguished yourself as an exceptional educator, administrator and leader in the dental profession. Your innovative ideas and strategic focus sustained the School during tumultuous times, and it was your vision and resourceful negotiating skills which helped create today's vibrant College of Health Professions. This progressive vision has benefited countless men and women, enabling them to pursue their dreams of becoming leaders in dentistry and health care. Your groundbreaking work in establishing standards for measuring the financial health of American dental schools has strengthened dental education nationwide and defined the role of an Associate Dean for Administration and Finance. You have earned national recognition for your contribution as a consultant to the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. Locally, you are also recognized for your consultation to eh Detroit Area Consortium of Catholic Colleges, where you established a foundation of cooperation which still exists today - 20 years later. You are held in the highest of esteem by faculty, staff and students, and are regarded as a true humanitarian by all. Your generous gifts of time, empathy, support and wise counsel have made a difference in the lives of innumerable grateful recipients. You are widely recognized among your colleagues for your participation in numerous committees and advisory councils. As a result of your professional contributions, you were honored with a Public Service Award from the Michigan Dental Association, and an Honorary Alumnus Award from the University of Detroit Mercy Alumni Association. In recognition of your innovative leadership in the field of dental education and health promotion and your acts of humanitarianism, the University of Detroit Mercy is proud to confer upon you the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree.
