Upon the Reverend Joseph Francis Herr, pastor of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Albertus, in Detroit, son of our University of its class of 1890, for that during more than thirty years devoted to the cure of souls in Michigan, he has helped solve the problems of the service of the Church to the rural districts, has carried solace and hope to them that were in prison, and as the spiritual director of the oldest Polish-American congregation in Detroit, has brought to the youth and the mature of an easer and receptive people, leadership in the duties, graces and appreciation of their American citizenship, the University of Detroit confers the degree of Doctor of Laws, for the sake of honor.
