Bio:
General Edward C. Meyer, Chief of Staff of the United States Army, has exhibited his tremendous commitment to our nation and strong desire to protect the interests of the United States, since he was commissioned as an officer in 1951. His unusual courage was demonstrated repeatedly as a member of the 40th Infantry Division in Korea, where he was a company commander and a battalion staff officer, and again in the mid-1960’s when he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his second tour in Vietnam, his administrative career flourished during various assignments in Europe and Washington, and in 1975 he was named Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and in 1976, promoted to Deputy Chief. In 1979, he was named the 29th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.
