Bio:
A native of Poland, Professor Janisz earned an Engineering with Diploma (1933) from Technical University Lwow Poland. Upon the invasion of Poland by Russia he was sent to a concentration camp and ,after a period in the camp, he was shipped from Poland to England where he taught at the Polish Army College (1946-1948). He was awarded the British War Medal and the Polish War Medal.
He came to the United States in 1949 and he joined the University of Detroit as an Instructor. He earned a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Detroit in 1951. He became a naturalized citizen in 1954. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1952, Associate Professor in 1957, and in 1963 earned the rank of full Professor. He was named chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering in the fall of 1964. In 1965, the graduating seniors elected Professor Janisz as Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
His specialization in teaching was Electronics and Advanced Electronics; in research it was development of Magneto and high frequency welding. His experience outside of academics included maintenance and design of telephone equipment and radio-receivers.
He was a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education, and Eta Kappa Nu.
There is no documentation when the Professor Emeritus honor was awarded to Professor Janisz.
