During the past four decades, you have distinguished yourself as a leader in the dental profession with a primary focus on dental education. As an exceptional educator and administrator, you have had a positive influence on thousands of men and women who practice dentistry today. While president of the American Dental Education Association, you skillfully shared your broad range of dental education with students and peers throughout the country. Your academic appointments included positions at university dental schools in California, South Carolina, North Carolina, Michigan and Kentucky. As former dean of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, your contributions to this institution are significant. In addition to teaching and serving as associate dean for academic affairs in the dental school, you were actively involved in the overall university community by playing a key role on numerous committees. Throughout your eight years with the University, you continuously demonstrated your commitment to providing quality education and encouraging the highest standards of student achievement. Respected by your colleagues for your innovative ideas and depth of knowledge, you have published numerous articles in dental journals and have given more than 300 presentations at professional meetings throughout the world. You have received numerous honors and awards including the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal and were named a Fellow by both the American and International College of Dentists. In recognition of your outstanding leadership in the dental profession and valuable contributions to the field of dental education, the University of Detroit Mercy is pleased to present you with the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree.
