Henry Schoolcraft Hulbert, lineal descendant of the earliest New England pioneers and of well known pioneers of our own State; Judge, sociologist and counselor; who during fifty years of public life in this city, and twenty-five as Judge of Probate Court, has been distinguished for his soundness of view, his integrity of purpose and his broad human sympathies; who in his personal and private life no less than in his official capacity, has earnestly and generously devoted himself towards the promotion of education, of scientific research, and of the social betterment of the under-privileged, is recommended for the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, and to be enrolled among those who have given the university distinguished service.
