Citation:
As our first basketball All-American and 21-year coach of the Titans, you earned a place for the University of Detroit in basketball fame. As a player, you led the Titans in scoring for three straight seasons; as a coach, you accumulated 303 victories and four post-season tournament bids, while turning out some of the most talented players in the country. You have been inducted in to the Michigan Sport’s Hall of Fame, the Helms Foundation Hall of Fame and named as the Detroit March of Dimes Distinguished Citizen-Athlete. For 13 years you directed the athletic activities on campus- encouraging, supporting and cheering. A team player, you have reflected the ideals of the university as a coach, player, administrator, and friend. For more than 30 years of loyal service, we are proud to honor you.
Award was presented at the President’s Cabinet Eighteenth Annual Awards Dinner, May 18, 1985.
