Bio:

Following Philip Kinsella’s graduation from University of Detroit in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering, he began his architectural internship with Eero Saarinen and Associates Architects, the predecessor firm to Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates LLC (KRJDA). Kinsella received his initial Architectural License in1965 in Connecticut and is currently a registered architect in thirteen states and the District of Columbia.

He has practiced architecture with KRJDA since 1966 and became a managing partner of the firm in 1982. He provides leadership for the firm in securing and managing projects, and is highly regarded for his astute allocation of human and financial resources throughout the multiple phases of each build. His resumé includes numerous multi-building and mixed-use projects throughout the United States and abroad.

Collaborating closely with Kevin Roche during the development of design concepts, Kinsella has overseen and coordinated design development and execution for many of his firm’s projects as project architect, partner in charge and managing principal. In his 50 years of experience in design development and construction of major projects, he has successfully completed nearly 2.5 million square feet of museums, visual arts and cultural facilities as well as over 14 million square feet of office and multi-use buildings, including adaptive reuse and historical restoration.

Kinsella provides his expertise and insight to such professional organizations as the American Institute of Architects, Connecticut Chapter; the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certification; the Building Officials Congress of America; the International Code Council; and the Construction Specification Institute. He is an emeritus member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for UDM’s School of Architecture.

Kinsella and his wife, Charlotte, live in North Haven, Connecticut.

Citation:

Philip Kinsella is an internationally recognized architect with 50 years of experience in the administration and management of numerous architectural projects throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, including museums, cultural facilities and office and multi-use buildings.

He is also noted for his creative style in the tradition of renowned architect Eero Saarinen, founder of Eero Saarinen & Associates, which is the parent firm of Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates.

Highly respected for his architectural expertise, skilled leadership and professional contributions, he is a registered architect in thirteen states and the District of Columbia, and is a distinguished member of the American Institute of Architects.
