It is with pride that Mercy College bestows the Nineteen Hundred Sisty-one Honor Citation on one who by his leadership and great personal influence, both as an individual and as a public servant, has contributed significantly to Detroit. Under his administration our dynamic city has achieved new dimensions and he has ever been a courageous champion of its honor. He has the wisdom to know what to do next, the skill to know how to do it, and the virtue to do it.
For all his capacities of administration and organization, for his political integrity and dedicated citizenship which are universally recognized and admired, Mercy College has resolved to confer this testimonial of sincere esteem upon the distinguished Mayor of the great city of Detroit, the Honorable Louis C. Miriani.
