Bio:

Benny N. Napoleon.  BA Law Enforcement 1982 com laude.  As an Inspector for the Detroit Police Department in the Special Crime Section, he is responsible for the overall command of the youth Crime Unit (Gang Detail), the Department of Transportation Surveillance Unit and the major Crime Mobile Unit.  Benny, a gubernatorial appointee to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission, was recently elected chairman after serving two years as Vice Chairman.  He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the NAACP, the Detroit Police Lieutenants and Sergeants Association and is a Trustee at the Tennessee Baptist Church.  As a basketball coach for the Police Athletic League, Benny has had national champion girls’ teams in 1986 and 1987.

The award was presented by Sr. Maureen A. Fay, O.P., President, Mercy College of Detroit on May 14, 1988.
