Alumni Community Service Award

Theresa Blaquiere, R.S.M. graduated in 1959 with a BA in history.  Her commitment to the community began many years ago – when she became a Sister of Mercy and dedicated herself to helping others.  This dedication was never more evident than when she became the catalyst behind Core City Neighborhoods, Inc.  This community-based economic development corporation became a reality after Sister spent months walking the streets, collecting information and making important resident and business contacts.  She is currently the executive director of this non-profit organization which was honored by the Michigan Society of Planning Officials for it revitalization plan.

The award was presented by Sr. Maureen A. Fay, O.P., President, Mercy College of Detroit, May 12, 1990.
