The Honorable Frank Couzens, Mayor of this, his native city of Detroit, who in rapid succession and with unusual distinction has served his community in a variety of public offices, and has thereby impressed himself upon the people as an honest, courageous and competent administrator; who, particularly as the Chief Executive of this great metropolis, when it faced most grave and critical economic problems, has initiated and guided a sound and energetic program of recovery, and thus restored security and confidence to thousands; who, in fine, by his soundness of views and integrity of purpose, and energy of execution has won the respect and admiration of his fellow citizens - is recommended for the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, and to be placed on the roll of those whom the University of Detroit has singled out for special recognition.
