Bio:

John R. Mulroy, member of the Arts Class of '39, is vice president of the U. of Detroit for Development, Alumni and Community Relations.  He was a professor of English in the College of Engineering at U. of D. from 1946 to 1951.  He was the first layman named vice president of any Jesuit college or university in the United States in 1956.

Mulroy is a founding proponent and director of the National Bank of Southfield, trustee and former secretary of the Metropolitan Fund, Inc., trustee of DeLima Junior College of Oxford, Mich., and vice-president of New Math Records, Inc.

The Tower Award was presented on May 13, 1967.
