Honorary Doctor of Laws

Citation:

Frank Cody, distinguished son of Michigan, where he was born and educated, and where he taught, directed and achieved in the fields of education; for fourteen years Superintendent of the public schools of Detroit; entrusted with the direction of seven thousand teachers, and the education of three hundred thousand pupils; Master of Education of the Michigan State Normal College, and Honorary Master of Arts of the University of Michigan; who in the past at the price of personal disfavor fought a valiant battle for the freedom of education in the state of Michigan, and at present guards with jealous care the sacred interests of fundamental and essential instruction for every child, is recommended for the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, and to be enrolled on the list of those whom the University of Detroit has singled out for special recognition. Commencement, University of Detroit, June 9, 1933.
