President's Cabinet Award

Cardiac surgeon whose team performed the worlds first pediatric heart transplant.

Pioneering surgeon and researcher, your dedicated work has brought hope to thousands, for whom your "pacemaker" and other medical aids have opened the door to life and health.  You have given new proof that science is the servant of man, and you have added your own unique testimony to our fundamental belief in the importance of each human life.

Award was presented on May 20, 1972 in Cobo Hall by Fr. Malcolm Carron, S.J., President of the University.
