Book of the week

book coverSquirrels are a familiar presence, thriving in both wilderness and cityscapes. Their chatty acrobatics in urban parks amuse us, even as their bold forays into backyard gardens and birdfeeders test our patience. Yet squirrels are far more than entertaining neighbors. Most of us know little about their lives or fully recognize the vital roles they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems. As pressures on the natural world continue to grow, it may be time to look more closely at squirrels—and consider why their future matters.
