If your username and password work on My Portal but not on Blackboard, then it may be that your Blackboard account is inactive.

Student Bb accounts are only active when a student is registered for a current or upcoming course.

Student accounts are given a one term grace period before they are deactivated.

So, if I haven't registered for courses at the start of the fall term, and the last time I took a class was the previous winter term, my Bb account will be inactive.

If you're a new student, you won't have access to Blackboard until you've registered for classes.
