THE GIRL IN THE GLASS COFFIN UNDER THE SIDE ALTAR AT
NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY WAS AN INDIAN MAIDEN. SHE WAS
THE DAUGHTER OF A CHIEF, AND SHE WAS CONVERTED BY
ONE OF THE EARLY MISSIONARIES--ONE OF THE EARLY C.S.C.
FATHERS. HER DAD, THE CHIEF, HEARD ABOUT IT AND SLIT
HER THROAT RIGHT AFTER SHE RECEIVED HER FIRST
COMMUNION. SHE IS AN INDIAN--YOU CAN TELL FROM LOOKING
AT HER. SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE IN HER COMMUNION DRESS.
