ON EASTER MONDAY, THE POLISH CELEBRATED "DYNGUS." BOYS AND
MEN WOULD CUT SWITCHES FROM TREES AND TRY TO WHIP GIRLS AND WOMEN
ON THE LEGS. MY GRANDMOTHER DOES NOT KNOW WHY. ON EASTER TUESDAY
THE PRIEST (AT CATHOLIC SCHOOL) WOULD GIVE THE GIRLS PERMISSION TO
RETALIATE IN KIND, BUT THEY NEVER DID.

Submitter comment: MY GRANDMOTHER ALWAYS PREVENTED THE MEN FROM HITTING HER
MOTHER.
