Historical record from James Callow Folklore Archive.

A COUNTRY MORON WAS ON A TRIP TO THE BIG CITY. HE
WENT INTO A DRUG STORE TO TELEPHONE A FRIEND.
THERE HE SAW A DIAL PHONE FOR THE FIRST TIME.
HE LOOKED AT IT, STUDIED IT, LOOKED AT IT AGAIN,
THEN CAME OUT.
"I'VE GOT TO GET TO ANOTHER TELEPHONE," HE SAID TO
HIS BROTHER.
"WHY, WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH THE PHONE IN THERE?"
"IT'S GOT HOLES."
