A POLISH SONG: O MY ROSEMARY PLANT, BURST INTO BUD

O MY ROSEMARY PLANT, BURST INTO BUD,
O MY ROSEMARY PLANT, BURST INTO BUD.
I WILL GO TO MY GIRL,
I WILL SEE THE ONE GIRL AND WOO HER NOW.
I WILL GO TO MY GIRL,
I WILL SEE THE ONE GIRL
AND WOO HER NOW.

AND IF SHE SHOULD ANSWER, "I LOVE YOU NOT,"
UHLANS ARE RECRUITING
SHARPSHOOTERS ARE MARCHING.
I WILL JOIN THEM.

THEY'LL GIVE ME A ROAN HORSE, SURE-FOOTED, FLEET,
AND A SHARP-EDGED SABRE,
AND A SHARP EDGED SABRE,
FIXED TO MY SIDE.

THEY'LL GIVE ME A CANTEEN, WITH VODKA FILLED,
THEN I'LL NOT BE YEARNING
THEN I'LL NOT BE YEARNING

WE WILL GO OUT OF THE TRENCHES
WITH FIXED BAYONETS
THE BAYONETS WILL PIERCE ME
DEATH WILL KISS ME--BUT NOT YOU.

Piddiddle

A piddiddle, as identified by teens in the 1930's in New
Jersey was an automobile with a burned out head lamp. If a teen
girl or boy were out on a date and saw a "piddiddle" and was the
first to shout it out, he or she could ask for a kiss or could
announce that his or her "piddiddle" would cancel their mate's next
piddiddle -- meaning, if he or she announced that he/she wanted a
kiss on the next "piddiddle", the one who canceled it with the
prior sighting did not have to kiss him or her.

Toot Toot Chips

Anyone eating potato chips that finds a folded over potato chip
must place the potato chip to his/her lips and verbalize the sound
"toot toot." Upon doing so, you will bear good luck.

Submitter comment: I inquired as to the reason he had just completed this
procedure and was told that this was the reason. He does this
routinely, without fail, no matter where he is, or in what company
he may be.
