GATHER THE ROOTS OF MAYAPPLE,
CUT OUT THE JOINTS, AND DRY THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOT.
PLACE IN A CLOTH AND BEAT TO A POWDER.
ADD A FEW DROPS OF CASTOR OIL AND ROLL INTO PILLS.

To cure a sore throat or a cold, sulphur powder
was placed on a feather. The feather was placed
in the back of the throat and the person administering
the treatment would blow the sulphur onto the throat.

Submitter comment: Mrs. Wolf's mother routinely used this procedure when
she was growing up.
