Pedagogical support services

IDS knows that good teaching involves pedagogical risk taking and we are here to support you as you try out new things. We also know that even the very best teachers sometimes struggle with new pedagogy or a problem of practice that they just can't untangle. Regardless of whether you have a problem of practice or just want to try something new, we are here to support you. We work one-on-one or with small groups of instructors on anything related to the improvement of their teaching practice.

Here are some examples of what we can work on with you:

  • We can assist with setting up an online or hybrid course and can answer questions related to blackboard and learning technologies.
  • We can help you do things like flip a classroom, design a group project, create a rubric, create an interactive syllabus in your blackboard course shell.
  • We can help you brainstorm strategies to address questions or concerns about teaching as they come up.
  • We can help you explore and incorporate the different learning technology that the university offers.
  • We can help develop effective activities and assignments for your class.
  • And anything else...

These consultations are confidential and can continue as long as it takes to accomplish your goal.
